Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child have to be potty trained before entering the school?
No
Are the school’s teachers Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certified?
Yes, at least 2 teachers are ECE (Early Childhood Education) qualified.
Does SCNS offer a before or after school program?
The school does not have a program set up for such a service.
Is there a discount for multiple siblings attending the school within the same year?
No. A discount is not available for families with multiple children attending in the same year. Further, because the school is a co-op, members with multiple siblings (including twins/triplets) may be asked to assume more than one committee role or a board of directors role during the year.
Is there a membership fee?
There is a $70.88 registration fee that is non-refundable.
What if I cancel before school starts? Are my fees refundable?
No, the $70.88 fee is not refundable at any time. Written notice of withdrawal giving 30 days notice must be sent to the Registrar who will inform the Treasurer and President. Our Parent/Guardian Handbook policies would be followed in such circumstances.
Besides tuition and registration fees, are there any additional fees of which I should be aware?
We have some non-base fees outlined in our Parent/Guardian Handbook about NSF cheques and late e-transfer payments.
How can tuition fees be paid out?
Monthly tuition fees are to be paid on the 1st of each month via e-transfer, except for the tuition fees for September and June which are to be paid on the 1st of September.
What are the committees that I can join?
There are several committees/jobs that you can participate in such as: President, Vice-President, Fundraising, Sponsorships, Communications, Treasurer, Secretary, Registrar, Program, Social Events, Equipment, and IT Administration, in addition to expectations of volunteering in the classroom on a regular basis. Participating in the co-operative duties provides a great sense of fulfillment and enjoyment while being a part of your child’s first learning experience.
